About the role

Seqera is seeking an Analytics Engineer to sit at the intersection of our data, tech stack, and business.  We’re looking for someone to help refine our metrics definitions, enable people across the company to ask questions about our internal data, and help build the next generation of our data infrastructure.

Seqera is a company full of people who know the value of data and enjoy diving into it.  We’re looking for someone who will not only enjoy creating impactful analysis but also enable others to do analysis of their own.  While this position reports to our VP of Product, you’ll end up collaborating across the company including the Product, Marketing, Sales, and Engineering organizations.  You’re likely to often find yourself digging into interesting and complex data with an eye for simplifying the structure, distilling insight, and scaling access.

What You'll Do

  • Full stack analytics engineering – From ensuring the right data is in the right place, at the right time, to helping us refine our metrics and definitions of success

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to answer key questions and continue building our culture of data-driven decision-making

  • Create visually compelling reports and dashboards that guide actionable insight

  • Steer our data architecture to be performant and cost-efficient as our data grows

  • Scale data collection/processing and help identify and integrate new data sources

  • Ensure that the data models for our internal information stay clear and that key information is ready to be explored by the right people at the right moment

About you

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • Proven experience working 3-5+ years as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or similar role in a data-driven environment.

  • Fluency in SQL and experience in analytical programming in a language such as Python or R

  • Experience delivering actionable insights and visualizations with industry-standard BI tools

  • Solid understanding of data infrastructure and the ability to model data and create robust ETL processes

  • Intellectual curiosity – an enjoyment of solving hard problems and understanding the ‘why’ in addition to the right answer

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

Nice to have:

  • Comfort with autonomy and an ability to set your own roadmap and strategy

  • Experience producing materials for a variety of consumers, from Product Managers/Designers/Engineers to Board of Directors/Investors

  • Experience at a B2B SaaS company at scale (and understanding of standard metrics/processes)

  • Experience with computational biology, scientific data analysis, or general scientific research

  • Experience with tooling used in our current analytics stack – Postgres, Superset, and Presto
